A Christmas Blessing

May your Christmas be filled

With beautiful hours

And memories lovely to hold,

To enhance and embellish

The days of your years,

Like angel wings

Sprinkled with gold.

May Christmas spirit,

In all of its joy,

Touch the depths

Of your soul with delight,

Any may blessings in bushels,

Abundant and rich,

Light every path of your life.

Principal’s Letter – November 2016

November principal's letterDear Parents of Ave Maria Catholic Academy,

I find it hard to believe that I am writing my principal message for the month of November. Time is flying at Ave Maria Catholic Academy, with great things happening every day. The students and teachers are working diligently and have settled into the routine of school. November is a month to remember all the men and women who served our country. The students in nursery through grade two presented a wonderful Veterans Day play on Thursday, November 10th, 2016 to their families and invited veterans. The students sang beautiful patriotic songs about their country. I would like to send a special thanks to State Senate Joseph Addabbo. Jr. for attending the beautiful remembrance play in honor of our veterans.

The new Student Council members have been designated. Congratulations to all of the students who ran for a position and eagerly campaigned the last month. It takes a lot of time and determination to prepare/practice your election speech as well as create your ingenious campaign posters. The newly elected candidates will be inducted at the conclusion of the 8: 30 A.M. mass on November 23, 2016. All parents and family members are welcome to attend.

Thank you to all of the staff members and families who participated in the Cards for a Cause Fundraiser. The fundraiser raised $819, and proceeds will go towards computer and media equipment for the students.

The next few weeks are very busy at AMCA. The first trimester report cards will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016. Information pertaining to parent-teacher conferences will be sent home in the next few weeks.

Thanks so much for your continued support of AMCA and the students we serve. On behalf of the faculty and administration of Ave Maria Catholic Academy, may you and your families be blessed on Thanksgiving and throughout the rest of the year.

Best Wishes,
Miss McManus

Principal’s Letter – May 13, 2016

Dear Parents of Ave Maria Catholic Academy,

Spring is here! It is hard to believe that there is less than six weeks left of the 2015-2016 school year. Please remember to view the website and calendar for important events and final exam schedules.

The last few months have been busy with New York State Exams, May Crowning, the Aquinas Honor Society Expo and our second annual Spirit Day. I commend all of the teachers and students for working so diligently in preparing for these challenging exams. On May 6th, 2016, the students of Ave Maria Catholic Academy honored our Blessed Mother Mary. The May Crowning Ceremony was beautiful with the second graders dressed in their beautiful communion dresses and suits representing Mary’s Court. There was beautiful music performed by the choir and biblical readings done by students in grades five through eight. Thank you to Miss Alsheimer and Miss Marino for coordinating this beautiful ceremony. On May 10th, 2016, I had the honor of attending my first Aquinas Expo and it was spectacular. The students of AMCA created a project explaining and illustrating how the progression of technology affects society. Their presentation to fellow Aquinas members, principals, and Mr. Anthony Biscione, Senior Deputy Superintendent of Schools was extraordinary. Special thanks to the Aquinas Coordinators, Miss Amuso and Mrs. Giacalone for their dedication and creativity. Yesterday the students of AMCA could have been heard miles away as they took part in the second annual Spirit Day. The day was filled with music, a plethora of sports activities and the freeze dance finale. The atmosphere throughout the day was wonderful with students and adults smiling, laughing, working together and enjoying the beautiful weather. This day took lots of lots of planning and organizing. Thank you to the Spirit Day coordinators and volunteers for making this an awesome day for the students of AMCA.

Please continue to support Shoparoo and Box Tops for Education programs. These programs bring in money for our school and allow us the opportunity to buy educational materials for the students.

I look forward to seeing many families at our Spring and Band performance on Thursday, May 26th, 2016 and the JDRF walk on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Information pertaining to these events will be sent home in the next few days/weeks.

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather.

Best Wishes,

Miss McManus

Principal’s Letter – March 16, 2016

Dear Parents of Ave Maria Catholic Academy,

It is hard to believe that is already the middle of March. As we spring forward towards the Third Trimester, I would like to commend all of the students who continue to work hard in all of their academic coursework and implement Catholic Identity into their everyday lives.

Thank you to all of you who had the wonderful opportunity to attend Ladies Night Out on Thursday, March 10, 2016. It was a great night to gather as a community and support AMCA. Special thanks to our Fundraiser Coordinator, Mrs. Doreen DeCandia and her amazing team for their limitless hours of dedication and creativity in making this night a wonderful success.

When we arrive back to AMCA after Easter recess, there are many exciting and important events on the agenda. During the week of April 4th, 2016 and April 11th, 2016, the students in grades 4, 6, and 8 will be administered the NYS English Language Arts and Mathematics State Exams. We wish them the best of luck on these exams. On April 9th, 2016 the second grade students will make their First Holy Communion. God bless them on this sacred and wonderful sacrament.

I hope all of you have the wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. May you feel Christ’s love in your heart and be filled with his peace and joy this Easter Season.

Best Wishes,

Miss McManus
